June 06, 2012 – Jerusalem, Israel  (Techreleased) –Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) will launch its newly developed range of grenade launchers, called the IWI GL40, next week at the Eurosatory 2012 Land and Airland Defence and Security international exhibition in Paris.

The event begins on Monday 11 June and runs through until Friday 15 June.

IWI CEO Uri Amit said: “Our new grenade launchers are the result of conclusions drawn from existing launchers, and the needs that arose from the field for a launcher that was easy to use and disassemble by the individual soldier, lightweight, and high performance, ensuring highly accurate firing.”

Developed in partnership with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the IWI GL 40 is a single shot, rugged 40x46mm grenade launcher, designed to operate with all types of the company’s assault rifles.

“Our new grenade launchers are the result of conclusions drawn from existing launchers, and the needs that arose from the field for a launcher that was easy to use and disassemble by the individual soldier.”

Weighing 1.4kg, the ergonomically designed GL40 gun is available in two barrel lengths, for 400m and 300m range; it can also be used as a stand-alone weapon, enabling separate firing following dismantling in any situation or combat conditions.

Capable of using various lengths of ammunition including long grenades, the weapon can be quickly assembled and disassembled by a single soldier without requirement of any additional tools.

The safety features include a disconnector to prevent firing, which occurs when the barrel is shutdown with the pressed trigger, and a safety catch outside the trigger guard.

Additional weapons to be displayed by the company at the exhibition include the NEGEV LMG, the ACE, TAVOR, and X95 assault rifles; UZI SMG, JERICHO Pistols and GALIL sniper rifles; in addition to the recently launched semi-automatic NEGEV NG7 and the UZI PRO SMG rifles.
