Lexus Launches All-New GS Range

April 3,2012 – Newyork, USA (Techreleased) -Lexus has launched its fourth-generation GS grand touring sports sedan.

Featuring an all-new model line-up, engine variants, design and onboard technology, the new GS has been engineered to deliver the space, comfort, power, features and driving dynamics demanded from a grand touring sports sedan.

Available in Luxury, F Sport and Sports Luxury variants, the GS’ all-new exterior and interior design includes the new, more aggressive corporate frontal treatment, giving the new GS a powerful and commanding road presence.

The beautifully crafted GS interior offers increased space and comfort for all occupants.

Front seat passengers benefit from an increase in legroom and up to 30mm of extra headroom.

Rear seat knee room has improved by 20mm and headroom increased by 25mm, while luggage space has also increased by 23 per cent over the outgoing model.

The interior also features an ergonomically designed, dual-zone, driver-focused cockpit with advanced Human Machine Interface technologies that help occupants remain alert and comfortable over long periods.

Several highly innovative technologies make their first appearance in the new GS model range:

  • a comprehensive multimedia system featuring either an 8 or 12.3-inch multimedia display, advanced Bluetooth capabilities* and hard drive-based satellite navigation with live traffic updates
  • a choice of audio systems featuring standard Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB+) offering greater choice of stations and sound clarity
  • a new ‘S-Flow’ energy-saving air conditioning system with ‘nanoe’ sanitising technology
  • a second-generation Lexus Remote Touch (LRT) interface linked to the world’s largest on-board multi-information display screen.

The F Sport package, available across the GS model range, features exclusive exterior and interior design elements, while a unique chassis tune ensures the F Sport rewards the driver in all of us.

GS 350 F Sport also features Lexus Dynamic Handling System (LDHS) along with a two-piece front rotor and four piston calliper brake package.

LDHS features the world’s first integration of Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS), Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) and Electric Power Steering (EPS).

Both GS 250 and GS 350 feature new-to-GS powertrains.

GS 250 delivers 154kW of power and 253Nm of torque while propelling it to 100km/h in 8.6 seconds.

GS 350 produces 233kW of power and 378Nm of torque and reaches 100km/h in 6.0 seconds.

The new GS combines sharp, accurate steering and excellent body control with outstanding high speed stability and all the ride comfort appropriate for a Lexus performance sedan.

Improvements to its driving dynamics have been achieved via a new body shell, which achieves a 14 per cent increase in structural rigidity, and the addition of new suspension, more powerful brakes and leading-edge technologies such as Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) and LDHS.

The new Lexus GS is comprehensively equipped with technologically advanced active safety and driver assistance systems.

Lexus Australia chief executive Tony Cramb said that the all-new GS will be a revelation for existing GS owners and a fierce competitor for its rivals.

“With its new design, engaging dynamics and class-rivalling specification, the all-new GS range will put our rivals on notice and attract many new customers,” said Mr Cramb.

“It will challenge the current paradigm of what represents value for money in the luxury market.

“The Lexus engineering and product teams have worked tirelessly to deliver a GS that sets the course for all future product from Lexus, by encompassing a vehicle that combines the traditional luxury features of a Lexus with rewarding driving dynamics.

“GS is the genesis of a renewed product focus from Lexus, driven by a passionate engineering and design team that desire to be the best at what they do – with the ultimate winner being the customer,” Mr Cramb said.

The all-new GS will begin arriving at Lexus dealers from April.
