Mar 08, 2013– San Francisco, USA  (Techreleased) – GE Healthcare today announced the first U.S. installation of its Centricity™ Cardio Enterprise solution at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. This robust IT solution supports GE Healthcare’s enterprise imaging strategy by offering cardiologists a single point of access to patient data, images and reports across the continuum of care while enhancing physician productivity and helping to improve charge capture accuracy.

Centricity Cardio Enterprise consists of Centricity Cardio Imaging, a web-based cardiovascular PACS solution that provides full diagnostic-quality image review and analysis from virtually anywhere there is an Internet connection. Whether a clinician is in the lab, on the floor, in the OR, in their office across town, or at home over the weekend – patient data and diagnostic-quality images are available at their fingertips when they need it. With a customizable user interface and a robust set of clinically-rich tools including advanced 3D/4D quantification, the solution promotes clinician productivity by providing the same user experience, regardless of location.

“With Centricity Cardio Enterprise I have the same level of access to patient images in my office and at home that I have in front of a workstation in the lab,” said Dr. Michael P. Carney, cardiologist at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. “Now I am able to consult and review images from my same location without the need to go back to the hospital. This truly has changed the way we respond to patient care questions and collaborate with other physicians. The speed of image retrieval is great and having access to diagnostic images with measurements tools has improved our efficiency and our response time to patient care needs.”

CIOs and cardiology administrators alike will appreciate Centricity Cardio Enterprise’s scalability and IT infrastructure, leveraging GE Healthcare’s vendor neutral archiving technology. It provides standards-based image and document storage with an ability to intelligently enforce lifecycle management policies. Centricity Cardio Enterprise also automates post-procedural patient outcomes management to not only support customers with today’s regulatory needs, but also help prepare them for upcoming changes in the future.

“Our customers are rewriting the book on cardiovascular patient care” said Don Woodlock, vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare IT, “and it’s very exciting that our technology is playing a role in this transformation. With Centricity Cardio Enterprise, we fundamentally changed the way cardiologists access patient images and data with the focus on providing them the information they need to empower their clinical decision making and reporting from virtually anywhere they are.”

Located in downtown Tulsa, Okla., Oklahoma State University Medical Center is the largest osteopathic teaching facility in the country, providing numerous highly specialized services including cardiology care, interventional radiology, and comprehensive wound care. The medical center also partners with OSU Center for Health Sciences and Diagnostic Imaging Associates to provide medical care to Oklahoma’s rural communities with a Mobile Cardiology Unit as well as a telemedicine program.
