Fujitsu Unveils ARROWS Z FJL22 Smartphone for au – Nov 18, 2013– Tokyo, Japan (Techreleased) – Fujitsu today announced that its new ARROWS Z FJL22 smartphone, manufactured by Fujitsu Mobile Communications, will be available in Japan from November 22, 2013 from KDDI Corporation and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company.
In addition to a high-capacity battery and rapid charging functionality that is approximately twice as fast as previous models(1), ARROWS Z features well-designed power saving features enabled by the Fujitsu Human Centric Engine, as well as a TFT LCD display equipped with RAM that significantly reduces power consumption when displaying still images. The touch panel’s usability, as well as the high-quality visual and audio aspects of the interface were core design features of the phone. These features deliver a stress-free user experience that allows users to take full advantage of the smartphone without worry of running out of battery power.
The new handset is also the first model to come equipped with Fujitsu’s proprietary ‘Multi-Connection(2) technology that can simultaneously make both 4G LTE/3G and Wi-Fi connections, along with a smart fingerprint sensor and other security features that users can feel confident in.
ARROWS Z employs a stylish crystal design made using transparent materials, together with a seamless round form factor that fits comfortably into the palm of your hand. The result is a next-generation ‘made-in-Japan’ smartphone that delivers the ultimate ease of use and comfort to a wide spectrum of customers.
A 2,600-mAh battery and a variety of power saving enhancements have enabled extended battery life and allow the user to operate the phone without being concerned about when the battery will run out. Moreover, the phone can rapidly charge to over 30% battery capacity in only 10 minutes(3), making it simple to quickly charge the handset before heading out the door at the last minute.
ARROWS Z features a TFT LCD with an embedded RAM chip that, by temporarily storing screen data in RAM, can significantly reduce power consumption when displaying still images.
In addition, the Fujitsu Human Centric Engine technology, which delivers optimal usability through cutting-edge sensing technology, constantly monitors the user’s environment and status in real time. The engine comprehensively supports users in conserving power through functionality such as the ability to automatically detect whether the user is in transit in order to efficiently scan for Wi-Fi access points, or the ability to appropriately adjust the brightness of the display depending on the light environment – such as a bright outdoor location or a dark room – through fine-grained electrical current control for the backlight.
Fujitsu has updated the included NX!eco application, which can integrate and configure separate power-saving settings. This enables fine-tuned power-saving settings depending on the user’s personal usage style, such as the ability to enter into eco mode at specified battery levels or timeframes.
By communicating using both 4G LTE/3G and Wi-Fi at the same time, the smartphone can constantly maintain a high-speed communications environment. For example, when displaying shopping, travel, food and other graphics-heavy websites, the images and text can each be downloaded over separate connections, enabling smooth pause-free rendering. Since the combined connections consume barely any more power than 4G LTE by itself, users can enjoy the added speed without having to worry about battery drain. Furthermore, when an accessible Wi-Fi connection is detected, it can be added while still connected via a 4G LTE/3G network. This, in turn, makes it possible to maintain a stable and reliable connection without having to switch between protocols.
Fujitsu has advanced the development of its unique smart fingerprint sensor technology – which delivers enhanced security to guard user privacy and eliminate the hassle of inputting a pattern or password – in order to accommodate the specific features of each of the models it is incorporated into, such as models with water resistance and ultra-thin models. On the FJL22, the fingerprint sensor features a stylish curved and colored design, and the time taken between the phone being unlocked to when the home screen can be accessed has been reduced by roughly 30%, enabling even greater ease of use.
The smartphone employs Fujitsu’s high-performance “GRANVU” image processing engine, which allows users to capture exceptionally vivid photographs. FJL22 includes photography features such as Quick Focus, which accelerates the speed of autofocus, and automatically adjusts based on the position of the person taking the photo and the angle of the smartphone, making it easy to rapidly capture the ideal photo. The phone’s Intelligent Flash is significantly brighter than before, enabling naturally bright photos to be captured even in dark locations.
Fujitsu has also made it easy for anybody to use the camera thanks to its simple operations. Users can capture their favorite shot, all with a simple press of the shutter button.
The Android 4.2 smartphone comes loaded with a wide range of capabilities, such as a quad-core 2.2-GHz CPU (Qualcomm MSM8974), the high-performance ATOK® Japanese-language input system, IPX5/8 water resistance(4), infrared, NFC (equipped with FeliCa), Osaifu-Keitai, 1-seg and full-seg television broadcast reception, an FM transmitter, DLNA/DTCP-IP, Miracast, and Bluetooth 4.0.
