High Tech Teeth

Having consumed more than 31,000 cups of coffee in my lifetime, I’ve had to deal with teeth stains and discoloration issues regularly (or my dentist had to) and we usually nipped the problem in the bud by having regular cleaning sessions and by practicing preventive measures, like chewing teeth-whitening gum after every meal and rubbing the inside of a banana peelon my teeth every night before going to bed.

High Tech TeethNo, your dentist doesn’t have to rub the banana peel on your teeth before you go to sleep (unless you’re married to one), so don’t get any funny ideas.

My dental care practitioner offers one of the best in-office teeth whitening in Montreal, but when she offered me a teeth whitening kit so I could do it at home and save a bit of money (or, maybe she was just getting tired of my bland jokes), I was a bit skeptical because I thought those teeth whitening gizmos were only used by the pros. Plus, I was born a klutz and would probably botch it on my first try. So I set out on a fact-finding mission to get the lowdown on this high-tech gadgetry and silence my inner skeptic for good.

  1. Rapid White “Blue Light” Tooth Whitening

A product of the UK, the Rapid White “Blue Light” Tooth Whitening System is a gentle treatment that whitens your teeth up to five shades whiter in just two hours. Inspired by the whitening treatments available in dental surgeries, the Rapid White Blue Light is the first at-home whitening kit with light activated gel-technology and is the perfect alternative to people who hate using mouth trays.

Rapid White also uses a proprietary sensitive action formula that is peroxide-free and safe to use. Use this gadget twice a day, four minutes per session for 14 straight days to get whiter, brighter teeth in the comfort and convenience of your own home, with minimum fuss.

  1. The Philips Zoom! System

The Philips Zoom isn’tactually a gadget per se, but a whole teeth whitening system (that includes gadgets) by Philips that has a professional grade whitening apparatus that’s used in-office to provide maximum whitening in just 45 minutes, at its core. The sad part is you can’t take that high-tech apparatus home with you.

Don’t fret. The Zoom system has aPatient Care Kit for Whitening which delivers the same results in the comfort of your own home, but would take about two weeks of continued use for you to see the results. The Zoomis the only take-home whitening system with ACP (amorphous calcium phosphate) that delivers enamel protection, reduces sensitivity and helps improve your teeth’s luster. The kit includes an electric toothbrush, a whitening pen, whitening solution, a mouth trayand a whitening tray case and shade guide.

  1. GLO Brilliant Personal Teeth Whitening Device

This kit glows in the dark. Seriously, the GLO Device(gel and mouthpiece included) uses the patented Guided Light Optics Technology and illuminates with a brilliant blue light as it gently warms up when you begin your treatment. The light and heat accelerate the Whitening Gel, giving you faster, longer-lasting results and gives you professional quality teeth whitening results in the comfort of your own home. Get up to eight shade changes, with an average of five shades in five days with zero sensitivity.

Probably one of the best at-home personal teeth whitening devices around, you’ll feel good about purchasing one, because for every purchase of a GLO Teeth Whitening System, the company donates an oral health kit filled with a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and educational material on dental health and hygiene to someone in need across the globe.

Conclusion

Although these gadgets and systems can provide at-home whitening benefits, I found out that like everything, results will always vary from person to person. What works for me may or may not work for you. Some people can follow instructions to a T, while others mess up. For me, I’ll just head on back to my dentist in Montreal and let her do all the work. I’d rather pay for a pro to do all the work, lest I fall asleep wearing these gadgets and bleach my teeth into oblivion.
