Posted On June 5, 2012June 05, 2012 – Los Vegas , USA (Techreleased) –HP today announced that Nuffield Health, the UK’s largest health charity, has selected HP technology to ensure that all its facilities deliver the same high standards of patient care.
A robust, high-performance HP Converged Infrastructure based on HP CloudSystem and HP Storageoffer a centralized infrastructure-as-a-services platform that will help Nuffield Health deliver efficient, cost-effective healthcare services to 300,000 people a year.
Nuffield Health operates more than 300 facilities across the UK, including 31 private hospitals, 65 fitness and well-being centers, and six medical centers. It also works with more than 1,600 businesses to support their employee well-being programs and employs 13,000 staff.
“Our IT environment is constantly evolving as the organization grows, and we need a flexible, scalable platform to help us achieve our goals,” said Claire Myerson, chief information officer, Nuffield Health. “We selected HP to help us on the cloud journey from a largely physical environment to a more virtualized platform with a geographically resilient infrastructure. HP CloudSystem is a reliable and open platform that will enable 99.999 percent service availability across all our facilities. The benefit for Nuffield Health is the centralization of services and increased agility that this platform provides, enabling us to respond rapidly to the challenges and demands of our customers both internal and external.”
Deployed by HP partner Richardson Eyres in conjunction with HP Technology Services cloud-deployment specialists, Nuffield Health’s virtualized HP Converged Infrastructure will deliver IT capacity on demand. Consisting of five HP CloudSystem Matrix solutions and an HP 3PAR V400 Storage system linked by HP Virtual Connect Flex-10 10Gb Ethernet Modules, the HP Converged Infrastructurewill make the organization’s IT services, applications, servers, storage and networks flexible, dynamic and available on demand.
The superior manageability of HP CloudSystem Matrix will enable Nuffield Health’s IT team to allocate resources easily across the physical and virtual environments to ensure predictable delivery and service levels. Complex infrastructure and applications can be provisioned in minutes instead of months. Changing from rack-mounted servers to HP server blades will save floor space and costs.
HP Virtual Connect Flex-10 10Gb Ethernet Modules will allow Nuffield Health’s IT team to fine-tune network bandwidth at the server edge, allowing just the right amount of bandwidth based on application needs, and enabling massive virtualization through increased network density.
Nuffield Health will boost its data-storage performance and availability by consolidating its resources with HP 3PAR V400 Storage. The organization’s IT team will be relieved of tedious manual administration through autonomic provisioning and management, minimizing future disruption and saving the operating costs of unused disk capacity.
HP 3PAR Thin Provisioning Software, fully integrated with the HP Cloud System for on-demand provisioning, will enable Nuffield Health to purchase only the disk capacity it actually needs, as it needs it. The centrally managed storage environment will be flexible and scalable, giving the IT team the ability to change and expand its data-storage provisioning without preplanning or downtime.
“HP will enable Nuffield Health to move to the cloud, unleashing the full performance, stability and manageability benefits of their virtualized IT platform,” said David Chalmers, chief technology officer, Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking—EMEA, HP. “Nuffield Health will be able to offer service availability to support the highest levels of patient care.”
