Posted On December 27, 2012Dec 27, 2012– Dallas, USA (Techreleased) – Kyocera Corporation (President: Tetsuo Kuba) today announced the launch of the “mamorino 3” safe children’s mobile phone with new military specification ruggedized features*1 for the “au” carrier. The new handset includes an emergency warning notification system, further enhanced safety features, a GPS-equipped emergency alarm, and is both water-*2 and dirt-resistant*3 for improved usability. The handset is available in Blue, Pink and White color designs and is part of the new lineup announced by KDDI Corporation.
The mamorino series is a popular line of mobile phones for younger elementary school age children which features a simple yet original design with an LCD screen and minimal keys. The phone’s concept revolves around its limited functions of calling, mail and GPS. The first mamorino was launched in March of 2010, and the subsequent mamorino 2 in March of 2011.
While still adhering to the original concept of the series, the new model has added functions in response to parents’ calls for a children’s mobile phone that is tough and durable. The new model now has a ruggedized shock-resistant feature based on military specification standards set by the U.S. Department of Defense, as well as further enhanced water-resistant (IPX8) and dirt-resistant features allowing the phone to be used by young children with their parents’ peace of mind.
Furthermore, the phone has a “simple setting” feature which allows parents to chose which functions can or cannot be used based on the child user’s circumstances ― including the emergency alert, mail and other functions. This new feature takes into consideration the usability for both children and parents.
Also, in the event of an emergency, simply pulling the strap on the emergency alarm will both sound a loud alarm and relay an automatic alert to the Secom emergency response center which will dispatch security personnel to the child’s location*4. Parents can also check their child’s whereabouts at anytime with notifications from the mamorino’s GPS system. The phone also has animated screen wallpaper matching the handset color to meet children’s tastes.
