Posted On August 25, 2014NOVA Selects Huawei to Deploy the World’s First LampSite Network in a Stadium – Aug 25, 2014– Reykjavik, Iceland (Techreleased) – Huawei today announced that Iceland’s leading mobile operator, NOVA, deployed the Huawei LampSite solution in Korinn stadium, Kopavogur – the second largest district in the Greater Reykjavik area. This is the world’s first commercial LampSite network deployment conducted for an indoor stadium, providing seamless mobile broadband experiences for audiences at the Justin Timberlake world tour concert on Sunday, August 24. The concert attracted an audience of 18,000, the maximum capacity of the stadium, which equates to 5% of the total population of Iceland. The data traffic density accumulated at this event proved to be 15 times more than that accumulated at Reykjavik biggest shopping mall at a busy hour.
Huawei LampSite is an innovative indoor MBB solution that addresses indoor network coverage and capacity problems for different scenarios, providing high performance and improved mobile broadband user experience, which helps operators secure new business opportunities, develop new data services and speed up new subscriber acquisition. Compared with traditional Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), the advantages of Huawei LampSite include easy deployment, upgrade scalability and technology evolution adaptation. Huawei LampSite supports multi-band, multi-mode, carrier aggregation (CA), MIMO technologies, and can provide higher spectrum efficiency and a seamless user experience both indoors and outdoors. The solution will help operators with quick one time deployment of the network and bring long-term evolution ability to maximum network return on investment.
After conducting several rounds of analysis and comparisons, NOVA selected the Huawei LampSite solution for high-density indoor coverage for the Korinn stadium. Huawei was able to complete network planning, site survey, installation, commissioning and all other processes in a short period of time despite the indoor complexity within the stadium. As a result, end users were able to enjoy seamless connectivity and a smooth user experience when sharing pictures and videos via social networking platforms through the mobile broadband network.
Mr. Jóakim Reynisson, Chief Technology Officer, NOVA, said: “I’m very satisfied with our cooperation with Huawei. Huawei’s innovative LampSite indoor coverage solution is really impressive with fast deployment to provide end users with stable and superior mobile broadband experiences.”
Huawei LampSite has been commercially deployed in many countries globally including Norway, the UK, Spain, Thailand and China.
