Jan 17, 2013– Detroit, USA  (Techreleased) – The significantly upgraded, new-look Kia Cadenza luxury sedan makes its overseas premiere today (Tuesday) at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, USA.

The upgraded Cadenza moves the Kia brand further up market by offering customers an impressive list of standard and optional equipment that takes in-car technology and premium features to an entirely new level.

“An increasing number of Kia customers around the world are looking for vehicles with even more premium amenities and advanced technology,” comments Hyoung-Keun Lee, Vice Chairman and CEO, Kia Motors Corporation. “When the new-look upgraded Cadenza goes on sale in different regions of the world during the first quarter of 2013, it will introduce a host of advanced comfort and safety systems that promise to set a new standard in the premium sedan segment.”

Sophisticated and elegant styling
Based closely on the 2009 model’s styling by Kia’s President and Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, the new-look Cadenza features fresh elements that incorporate Kia’s evolving design DNA. Echoing some of the visual innovations of the flagship Kia Quoris sedan, the upgraded Cadenza has a more distinctive appearance with a new hood, trunk lid, light clusters (front and rear) and new bumpers, plus side air-vents in the front wings and a new interpretation of the brand’s ‘tiger nose’ front grille.

With broad shoulders, a contoured hood, large wheels and a wide stance, new Cadenza has a strong and grounded appearance. Flanking the grille are quad headlights that nestle deeply behind crystalline lenses. The lower fascia is wide, adding to the Cadenza’s imposing stance, and chrome trim accents around the fog lights and grille add to the vehicle’s premium presence. LED positioning lights and available HID headlights provide additional sophistication.

The Cadenza’s silhouette is strong and elegant, while the glasshouse curves gracefully into the C-pillar and is surrounded by a tasteful chrome bezel that flares upward at the rear door. A chiseled indentation sweeps upward through the door handles and seamlessly transitions into the tail lights. Classic chrome accents adorn the base of the doors and the treatment continues into the rear fascia.

At the rear, the standard LED tail lights sit high on the deck and are designed to cut across a large portion of the vehicle, emphasizing the Cadenza’s broad stance as twin oval tail pipes accentuate the sedan’s sporty and elegant design.

Raising comfort and convenience to a new high
Inside, upgraded Cadenza has an unparalleled level of premium equipments for five occupants and strikes the ideal balance between sport and luxury. The interior envelops its occupants in a premium environment complete with soft leather upholstery and tasteful accents of wood and chrome. Ambient lighting and horizontally positioned switch gear create an elegant and uncluttered cabin. The instrument pannel is angled toward the driver for optimized control. Elegant chrome bezels surround the HVAC and audio controls, air vents and the push-button engine start.

Advanced features and technologies
Depending on individual markets, the upgraded Cadenza will offer buyers an extensive choice of convenience and safety technologies with a standard equipment level that is on par with many premium brands. It boasts dual-zone automatic climate control with rear seat ventilation, optionally available Smart Key keyless entry with push-button start, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat and optionally available Bluetooth® wireless technology.

Available features will include: a high resolution 7-inch TFT LCD touch screen display, premium Nappa leather seats, a ventilated driver’s seat with seat cushion extension, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, powered rear sunshade, full-length panoramic sunroof with power retractable sunshade, and a premium 550-watt Infinity® 12-speaker audio system.

Safety technology available will feature: a water repellant hydrophobic windshield, HID headlamps with adaptive front lighting system (AFLS), Advanced Smart Cruise Control (ASCC), radar-based Blind Spot Detection (BSD), a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) that provides audible and visual alerts to the driver and a reversing camera with obstruction warning system.

Engaging driving experience
For markets outside of North America, the front-wheel drive Cadenza is equipped with one of Kia’s most powerful V6 engines, the smooth-revving 3.5-liter multi-point fuel injection (MPI) unit with recently introduced technical improvements to boost performance while maintaining fuel efficiency. The advanced all-aluminum engine features dual continuously variable valve timing (CVVT), a maintenance-free timing chain, a three-step variable induction system for enhanced torque, and is designed to run on regular unleaded gasoline.

Power is seamlessly transferred to the front wheels via Kia’s six-speed automatic transmission with fully automatic and ‘Sportmatic’ manual mode operated with the shift lever or steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. To maximize driver engagement, the new Cadenza features performance-tuned fully independent suspension with MacPherson Struts at the front and a multilink design at the rear. A choice of 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels is available.

Enhancing refinement
To ensure that upgraded Cadenza delivers a premium driving experience, Kia engineers have improved NVH and enhanced refinement by adopting numerous technical solutions, including the use of high strength steel for 60% of the bodyshell structure. Many of the steel components are produced with a 1,650 degree hot-stamping process, that enhances the strength of the steel without adding weight. Torsional rigidity of the new Cadenza is greatly increased, benefiting ride, handling and crash safety.
