Posted On December 19, 2013Rolls-Royce to support Turkey’s plans for civil nuclear power – Dec 19, 2013– Istanbul, Turkey (Techreleased) – Rolls-Royce has announced that it will collaborate with Istanbul Technical University to assess the capability and development needs of the Turkish supply chain to deliver the country’s planned fleet of civil nuclear reactors.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed today by Rolls-Royce and Istanbul Technical University witnessed by The Ministry for Energy and Natural Resources. The MoU provides a roadmap for developing a nuclear qualified supply chain capable of delivering equipment and services to the new reactors planned to be built in Turkey. The roadmap will also align R&D strategies with future market requirements to ensure the latest technology is utilised.
Patrick Regis, Rolls-Royce Regional Director, Turkey and Central Asia said: “I am delighted to sign this important agreement on behalf of Rolls-Royce. Working closely with Istanbul Technical University, we can support the Turkish Government in its plans for a programme of civil nuclear power.
“Istanbul Technical University is recognised for its academic excellence in nuclear technology. A strong partnership between our two world-class organisations can contribute significantly to the development and growth of the nuclear supply chain in Turkey.”
Mr Mehmet Karaca, President, Istanbul Technical University said: “Rolls-Royce is a global company with a wealth of experience in supply chain analysis, engagement and development. We are delighted to partner with them to help Turkish industry to optimise the opportunity that our domestic new build programme will bring in terms of job security and future export potential.”
Rolls-Royce has a significant nuclear skills base and a long-standing presence in a number of key phases of the nuclear programme, including providing advice to governments and operators, supply chain management and manufacturing and technical engineering support.
