Sony Announces Premium Next Generation XAV-602BT In-Car Entertainment System – Aug 16, 2013– San Diego, USA (Techreleased) – Sony today introduced the new XAV-602BT smartphone connected in-dash AV receiver making it easier and more convenient to experience music, navigation and smartphone applications while in the car.
In addition, Sony announced the optional XA-NV300T navigation module with access to TomTom®’s intuitive user interface and mapping technologies. The new devices will be demoed at MERA Knowledgefest in Dallas, TX between August 17th and 22nd at booth #505. Sony will also display two vehicles including a 2008 Mercedes Benz CLS600 and a 2010 Mazda CX-7.
Sony-exclusive App Remote Technology for AV Receivers
The new XAV-602BT AV receiver features Sony-exclusive App Remote™ technology for AndroidTM and iOS® devices, unifying entertainment and control functions for a simplified driving experience. The App Remote feature combines music and select smartphone apps into a single source list that can be safely displayed and controlled directly from the receiver. App content is displayed on the smartphone while audio content plays through the speakers.
Exclusive to Android devices, the enhanced App Remote technology for the new XAV-602BT head unit adds a voice user interface for voice control of apps and functions such as navigation and music playback, notification readouts including RSS feeds, Twitter, etc., and text message reply.
In addition, Sony’s exclusive App Remote feature simplifies customization of sound settings such as volume, sub control, EQ, fader, balance, etc., for both Android and iOS devices.
“With the enhanced Sony-exclusive App Remote technology now featuring a voice UI, the new XAV-602BT entertainment system makes smartphone access and control even more convenient and seamless in the car,” said Andrew Sivori, vice president of the Sound Division at Sony Electronics.
GPS Unit
The new XA-NV300T navigation module delivers GPS and a USB connection and includes an SD card, which houses the TomTom® map. Users simply connect the optional XA-NV300T GPS module and have continuous access to TomTom’s IQ Routes, the world’s biggest real travel time database. Drivers never worry about network connections or data costs because the system works independent of the phone.
MirrorLink™ Enabled
Sony holds the distinction of being among the first to market with MirrorLink™ enabled products and the new XAV-602BT is no exception. Developed by members of the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), MirrorLink is a technology standard for controlling a nearby smartphone from a car’s steering wheel, dashboard or head unit. Sony’s range of MirrorLink-enabled head units are compatible with the Xperia Z and ZL – in addition to select Samsung® smartphones.
Distinctly Sony
In addition to premium design, Sony’s new XAV-602BT in-car entertainment system delivers uncompromising music/video playback quality. Viewers enjoy DVD video playback as well as a clear view of playlists and album artwork on the super-sized 6.1” touchscreen display.
Exceptional video is combined with the power of Sony’s audio technologies for unmatched in-car sound. With Sony’s advanced sound engine and dynamic reality amp with 52 watts x 4 high power plus a 4.1 multi-channel surround sound and virtual center speaker, drivers experience a louder and clearer sound that is distinctly Sony. With unique sound processing technologies, listeners hear dynamic bass and soaring highs with clarity and less distortion for an unmatched music and movie experience. Also unique to Sony is enhanced radio reception by a digital clarity tuner that improves stereo channel separation and sound quality even while driving in areas with weak FM signal coverage.
