SUV Demand Delivers Record Lexus May Sales – June 06, 2016– Nagoya, Japan (Techreleased) – Substantial demand for its SUVs has resulted in luxury marque Lexus recording its strongest ever May sales result.

Figures released by the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) reveal Lexus delivered 810 vehicles in the month, eclipsing its previous best May in 2015.

Almost 60 per cent were from Lexus’ SUV lines – NX, RX and LX.

There was also strong demand for the brand’s CT 200h premium hybrid hatchback and IS sedan, in particular the new turbo engine variant which achieved a new sales record in May.

Lexus Australia chief executive Peter McGregor said the result was outstanding in the lead-up to the end of the financial year.

“It is extremely encouraging to see Lexus continue its momentum amid a buoyant Australian luxury vehicle sector,” Mr McGregor said.

“Market competitiveness has been a driving factor in the strong retail demand this year and there is a great deal of confidence, both in the private and business sectors.

“We are delighted with the favourable reception to our luxury vehicles – which goes hand in hand with the energy and optimism of the market – and look forward to building on this further as we prepare to enter the next financial year.”
