Posted On July 9, 2013Telit Technology to Help Bring Environmental Noise Pollution under Control – Jul 09, 2013– London, UK (Techreleased) – Telit Wireless Solutions, a global provider of high-quality machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions, products and services, today announced collaboration with Poland-based Svantek Sp. z o.o. on development of cellular-connected SV200 noise monitoring station. The Svantek solution proposes to change the traditional approach of combating noise pollution in populated areas by making prolific environmental noise data collection via cellular connected stations affordable and easy to use. Health and regulatory agencies have largely relied on statistical computer modeling rather than actual data collection to develop work on noise abatement policies and regulatory recommendations. The goal of the new product is to make available to any organization, the same quality and timeliness of real-observed data that, up until now, could only be afforded by rich, high-traffic airports.
The SV200 is fruit of the company’s 20 years of experience in noise monitoring. Every aspect of the device has been developed with the utmost attention to precision, making available to customers, continuous and simultaneous noise monitoring from multiple locations. Field noise monitoring is constrained by two main factors: power for the device and remote communication. The natural expectation from customers is a high-speed data link to the measuring source, on-line, and with the possibility of listening to whatever is happening at any of the monitored locations. The amount of data required for such communication can be compared to that of watching movies on a web browser, significantly narrowing the field of cost-effective wireless connectivity module options.
The standard SV 200 model contains all the necessary apparatus to carry out continuous noise monitoring, including third-octave analysis and audio event recording. Svantek offers an optional weather monitoring module for the product to enrich the data stream with additional environmental context, making the SV 200 outdoor monitoring system an “all-in-one” solution. The device is encased in a compact housing containing a microphone, sound level analyzer, data-logger and the communication system. With no plastic cases or interconnection cables to deploy, product installation is a simple matter of attaching the rugged unit to the target location in whatever manner is convenient.
The Telit H24 in the SV 200 is a 3.5G module featuring high-speed HSPA connectivity delivering 7.2Mpbs down and 5.7Mbps up data rates. It includes built-in TCP/IP and UDP stacks and security protocols, making it ideal for data streaming applications. The module operates in the extended temperature range of -30° to +85°C and is available in four regional variants ranging from single to tri-band in HSPA all with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE fallback connectivity plus optional receiver diversity and on-board GPS.
“With so much riding on the communication functionality of the SV 200, it is no coincidence that the choice fell on a 3G Telit module which offers high speed connection and can operate anywhere in the world”, said Krzysztof Kołtyś of Svantek. “Our range of noise and vibration monitors is second to none with both quality and technical excellence being at the core of our company’s philosophy.”
“The SV 200 uses Telit’s H24 tri-band HSPA module. And because this robust product is available in different regional band combinations with broad certifications, it is ideal for Svantek’s global ambition for their product”, said Dominikus Hierl, chief marketing officer at Telit Wireless Solutions. “When you consider the sharp rise in population of large cities, it is clear that Svantek’s solution will fulfill a real and emerging need world-wide.”
