Nov 01, 2012– Brunsbüttel, Germany  (Techreleased) – Vattenfall has initiated the procedure for approval of decommissioning and dismantling with the approval authority, the Ministry of Energy, agriculture, environment and rural areas in Schleswig-Holstein/Germany.

The direct dismantling offers the possibility to make use of the existing experience and know-how of employees at an optimum. In the coming months, Vattenfall will submit other documents that describe the project in detail.

The application does not contain an abandonment of existing licenses.

One of the significant conditions for our decision in favour of direct dismantling is the availability of a repository for low-level and medium-level radioactive waste. A clearly later availability would put a question mark over a basic premise.
